The TestLayer project will contain all the source code for unit testing. For this book, you will be using a testing framework called NUnit (covered in 7), which supports test-first development. This particular framework provides a graphical user interface (GUI), so you will know if your tests are passing. Download NUnit from www.nunit.org. After you have downloaded NUnit and installed it, you will need to configure it to work with Visual Studio, as follows: 1. Right-click Northwind in the Solution Explorer, select Add, and then select New Project. 2. In the Project Types pane, select Windows under Visual C#. In the Templates pane, select Class Library. Enter TestLayer as the project name, and then click the OK button. 3. Right-click TestLayer in the Solution Explorer and select Properties. Then select the Debug tab on the left side of the window. 4. Make sure the Configuration drop-down list is set to Active (Debug). In the Start Action section, select Start External Program and enter C:\Program Files\NUnit 2.2.2\bin\ nunit-gui.exe (assuming you installed NUnit in the default location). In the Start Options section, enter TestLayer.dll in the Command Line Arguments text box. Your Properties window should look like the one shown in Figure A-9.

For the examples, we use the ubiquitous Northwind database sample that comes as part of the Microsoft Access installation. The Northwind demo database is an Access application that allows you to maintain details for fictitious companies, suppliers, products, categories, and orders. It contains tables populated with data, as well as an application called the Main Switchboard, which provides access to the individual forms and reports, as shown in Figure 2-18. One of the easiest ways to migrate data from your existing Access database to the Oracle database is to use the Export option within Access to export the data into a different format. This is similar to migrating an Excel spreadsheet, as described in previous sections. In Access, select Tables from the Objects panel, as shown in Figure 2-19. Then right-click a table and select the Export option from the pop-up menu. This Export option will let you export the data from that table in a variety of formats, such as CSV, XLS (Excel spreadsheet format), XML, dBase, Paradox, and ODBC Database. Figure 2-19 shows the wizard you get when you choose to export the data as a text file (*.txt, *.csv, *.tab, or *.asc). The Export Text wizard lets you define the character that should be used as the delimiter between fields or to export fields as fixed-length records. If your application uses only one main table, you could export your data as a CSV file, and then import that CSV file into the APEX environment, in the same way that you import an Excel spreadsheet. This import process automatically creates the pages and logic required to maintain the data in that table.

Before you can use an NSS volume, it has to be activated. Normally, this is done automatically when you boot up your server. There are, however, instances where you ll want to activate and deactivate an NSS volume manually (for example, because you have to perform some maintenance tasks on it). It s very easy to activate and deactivate NSS volumes from iManager: 1. Start iManager and select Roles and Tasks Storage Volumes. 2. Select the server on which you want to activate or deactivate a volume. 3. In the volumes list now displayed, select one or more volumes you want to make active or inactive. 4. Click Activate to activate an inactive volume or click Deactivate to deactivate a volume that is currently active.
